Joseph Bernhardt, 2025
I have a soft spot in my heart for Run to the Pub. 2025 marked my thirteenth time participating in the race, and I was able to enjoy it with friends and family. But what made this year so special is that my number had been called to represent in Dublin!
While in Ireland, I chose to run the Joe Duffy Half Marathon, which traversed over pathways along the Dublin coastline. I enjoyed the mild July weather, soaking in the sights of the city and surrounding nature along with 7500 other runners.
My stay in Dublin was short, but I made the most of it. I toured Saint Patrick's Cathedral, the Guinness brewery, Trinity College, and Powerscourt Estate. While at Trinity College, I was able to catch the local Irish folk group Amble play at the College's summer concert series. The people were extremely friendly and inviting, and the food was unrivaled. Being my first trip to Europe, I found it surprising how welcomed I was. Everybody was excited to hear my story about Run to the Pub.
Here's to another thirteen years of Run to the Pub!
I'm hoping my name will be drawn again so I can return to Ireland!
